And again got the flashing cursor. A while later I came back and it was at the "windows had a problem starting screen and I did a repair and evetually a restore.

After that I could access the folders as described. I have screen shots from today and the results of running network diagnostics but don't know how to post or otherwise get them to you. This is not the problem. Also there is no "Securtiy" tab when i go to folder properties. Also have screen shot. You may refer the steps from the link to post a screen shot of the issue. I do not want to do a clean boot right now as I have project going out Weds. Can the Network Storage Device be accessed by any other computer on the network?

Initially I did a Hard Disk upgrade and installed WIN 7 professional Full Version from scratch and I am running into this problem with file sharing and network visibility. I do have the network discovery turned on as recommended and my notebook is discovering nothing. I was trying to connect a win7 laptop to a private dns network via wireless router win server , with 3 clients on win7, all 64bit I could ping ip addresses and names with no trouble, but no network connections.

After read this topic, I have an idea that I never look in the Kaspersky firewall settings. I look into only Windows firewall and network sharing center. For some reason, Kaspersky firewall detect my WIFI connection or change it to " Public " which I set to block file sharing in "network and sharing center".

Both part of the same Workgroup on a wireless network. Disable Homegroup and try network, same deal. Now, both will ping each other but using the IP address from the LT does not work. Turning off all firewalls including Windows FW does not work. Adding credentials does not work. Diasbling all anti-virus and FW on both machines does not work. I faced the same problem and this is what helped me: 1. Go to Task Manager, and select Services. Dell , ect. If you copy and paste the network path that you are trying to connect to into windows explorer it will wait several seconds and then ask you for your credentials.

Enter the required details and select re-connect at sign in and this should fix your issue. For some reason it appears that windows forgets the credentials and they must be re-entered into the network. This immediately worked for me when I'd had the "Error code: 0x The network path was not found".

What I found simply, all my local network links were public in Kaspersky. I reset them to trusted in Kaspersky and this issue was fixed. While I have only worked with Kaspersky it would be logical that other security software packages would have similar features. But after hours and hours and hours and hours of testing and rebooting the crap out of all my PC's and even corrupting my win XP install having to reinstall everything again, I finally found the answer! I have cable internet with a modem that come's with a switch and I have 3 PC's and 1 Laptop that connect to this switch.

The PC's use Powerline adapters and the Laptop uses wireless. I use this PC to share all my files that are spread across several internal and external HDD's that I acquired over the years.

It was all working fine until about 5 days ago none fo the PC's in the network could access the drives anymore. I should have followed trough with logic and started doing what I did in the end in the first place but I was looking for a quick fix and did not want to go trough the hassle of disabling all programs and services 1 by 1 and see if it worked. However in the end this was what I ended up doing and sure enough when I disable IPSec services: Voila, access to the shares on my XP machine was granted again.
